Teaching vs Coaching: What's the difference?
What I offer blends teaching and coaching, each serving a distinct purpose.
Teaching: I provide information, stimulate critical thinking, and help clarify misunderstandings.
Coaching: I guide you to use your existing knowledge and skills to find insights, connect with motivation, and create your own solutions. The answers you discover yourself are often more impactful than external advice.
My service combines both approaches, with the balance shifting based on your needs. For technical skills, teaching is key; for creative development, coaching shines. Both elements are integral to achieving your goals.
About Me, David R Munson
I started my photography journey in the mid-90s as a bored high school freshman in the American Midwest, relying on library books and early online forums. It was fun, but often frustrating and progress was slow.
After high school, I studied photography at university and worked in the photo industry doing technical work, largely focusing on lighting. In 2009, I moved abroad and started teaching, all while continuing my photography, both fine-art and commercial.
Looking back, the greatest periods of growth came from learning with and from others who guided and supported me. Now, with 25 years in photography and a decade in education, I’m dedicated to helping others build their skills and expand their creativity.
