Welcome to Aleatorist, the creative sandbox of David R Munson, an American photographer, nonfiction writer, educator, bricoleur, and general doer-of-things based just outside of Tokyo, Japan.
I’m still figuring out how I want to do things here, how I want to organize and execute this and that, so don’t be surprised if things change fairly often for now.
One core idea, though, is to create an organizational structure that will allow me to categorize and organize different projects, products, ideas, etc, regardless of whether it’s just an idea, something I’m actively working on, or something that’s finished. I’m not entirely sure how to do that, but if what I’m doing isn’t working, I’ll try something else. If you have any ideas, let me know at david@aleatorist.com.
Part of the problem is the variety of things I want to include here. I am unable to contain my curiosity or corral it into a single area of practice, so activities here will include photography, writing, publishing, industrial design, printmaking, bookbinding, and others.
Once I sort out how I’m going to do it, an index of sorts will appear on this page. For now, here are a handful of existing pages on the site while I rebuild things.
